I started working with clay out of curiosity, as in child’s play, happily toying with a medium, not knowing where this would lead. I was fortunate to be able to incorporate this pursuit - which gave me joy and aesthetic pleasure - into my livelihood. The ceramic craft is a challenge to me, a quest, a game with the unknown. I observe forms, textures and notions that intrigue me and imprint them onto the clay, using my recollections as a filter. I give my attention to simplicity, to straightforward form, to the primitive, the spontaneous, these are the ideas behind my experimentation. When working with clay I continue to feel as I did when I first began my acquaintance with it.
